Testimonials

“Jodi’s expertise in apraxia made all the difference in the world for our 5 year old daughter. She gave us a set of hand signals – almost a secret language- to help her remember how to make certain mouth shapes. It was really amazing how much it helped her progress. Jodi is patient, encouraging, and inventive. We love working with her.”

“My twin daughters were both diagnosed with apraxia around the age of two and a half.  After three years of speech therapy, it was becoming clear that one of my daughters had moderate-severe apraxia and was going to need more help.  That is when we found Jodi.  She knew what to do, what new techniques to try, and had the intensity and drive that propelled my daughter forward.  Jodi is kind and knowledgeable with respect to motor speech disorders, but she is persistent.  She understands children and their speech struggles in a way that propels them forward one victory at a time. Our apraxia journey has been long, but eight years later, Jodi is still leading the charge to conquer the next challenge.   Jodi, in short, is a great speech therapist!”

“We had known that both of our kids could use speech therapy to work on their “r” sounds but had put it off for years due to the pandemic and other reasons. A neighbor of ours recommended Jodi and I’m so glad she did! In around 6 months both of my kids were reliably pronouncing “r”s in their daily speech. And, perhaps more importantly, Jodi created a nurturing and environment for learning and practice. Through fun games, encouragement, and a deep interest in each child as an individual, she made a real connection with each that was critical to fostering their progress. When my kids “graduated” they were so proud of their progress…but a little sad not to continue coming to see Ms. Jodi on a weekly basis.”

“Jodi has been great with my 6 year old daughter and we are so pleased with her progress. From the very first visit, Jodi was able to connect and make her feel at easy through the process. She also gave me very clear instructions on exactly what I could do at home to help. I highly recommend Jodi and Sound Speech”

“We hired Jodi to work with our eight year old on his lisp. She is very warm and approachable and explained the process, timeline etc. She clearly knows how to work with children and made the whole process fun for him from the beginning. In her sessions, she does not waste any time and gets right to work with focused exercises often in the form of games she has planned out. If my son gravitated to another object nearby, she would quickly invent a new game to incorporate it. After each session, she would email me about how it went as well as including “homework” for the week. We saw our son improving each week and I would say that we are now close to a full lisp correction. I would highly recommend Jodi!”
